RIBA CPD Providers Network

The RIBA CPD Providers Network is run as a service for architects and other construction professionals to help you fulfil your CPD obligations developed to impose quality standards on commercial CPD.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) can be of immense value to you as an architect or construction professional. Doing CPD can genuinely help you in your jobs, careers and businesses.

CPD enhances

  • productivity
  • earning power
  • morale
  • competence
  • job satisfaction
  • career prospects
  • client relations
  • staff recruitment
  • safety
  • enjoyment
CPD is of course about maintaining professionalism and competence. However, it is also about enhancing your career development, your business… and your sense of personal satisfaction.

At a very basic level, CPD is for consumer protection. Beyond that, the professions recognise it as a way of helping develop their members’ careers. This also fits in with the government’s views on lifelong learning as being essential to the financial wellbeing of the nation.

Every member of the RIBA will obviously have different needs, time and budgets. To that end, you might give some thought to the following in putting together your CPD plan:
  • Practice activity
  • New technologies
  • The practicalities of running one’s business
  • Practical skills
  • The legal responsibilities of architects
  • Changes in the construction industry
  • Society's needs
Personally, you should think about
  • Career development needs
  • Job description, requirements and workload
  • Long-term goals
  • Experience since qualification
  • Degree of specialisation
  • How much time you can devote to individual activities
  • Level of achievement you are aiming for
  • The most convenient and interesting learning formats for you

What can you do? It's up to you: seminars, courses, conferences, reading, study tours, writing for publication, online modules, distance learning, branch events to name a few.

CPD is only limited by your imagination, time and budget.

The RIBA's Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme helps keep its members and all other construction professionals up to date with training support, new ideas and updates on techniques, and regulations.

We can offer you advice, and bring you quality CPD through seminars, courses and conferences in our regional offices and through the RIBA CPD Providers Network.
